A summer evening at Wierum

Last Friday I visited Wierum on a warm summer evening. Wierum always has a great attraction to me with the old Maria church from around the year 1200. This church is the typical landmark of Wierum. When you are at the Waddensea you can see it from a great distance. This church used to be in the centre of the village, but due to lots of heavy floods the northern part of...

Chasing the cloud

Last friday I went on a trip with my best friend Bas. The weather wasn’t very good during the day, but the weather-forecast was promising. We planned to go out to the beach of the North Sea where we wanted to capture some of the shapes in the sand. This should be the place to be that evening, because in the rest of the Netherlands it would be clouded with no sun at...

Quick comparison Lee and Hitech filters

A little more than a year ago I changed from my Cokin filters to Lee, just because I wanted to use ND (graduated)filters which were more color neutral. Cokin is knows of its Magenta color cast. Especially with long exposures you can see the problem. I also bought a Travor ND8 (3 stops) filter which I used with my Cokin ND grad filters. The color cast you have with this...

This is one of my trials.   I want to keep the link with landscape photography, so this time I have tried some industrial...

Winter in the Netherlands

After a long period of warm, rainy and windy weather finally winter arrived in The Netherlands. Temperatures went down and a little snow fell to make a perfect winter scene. A few days of extreme low temperatures of minus 23 degrees Celsius as in the picture above made the Dutch go into ice skating mode. Even the Eleven Cities fever went all over the Netherlands. Winter is about to arrive

Finally, the weather forecast predicts winter in the next week. After a winter of wind and rain until now there are finally some signs of colder weather from the east. This reminds me of last year when there was a lot of snow and there were even ice shelfs at the Waddensea. Actually I love the winter. The light in Winter is so much better than normally in the summer. In...
