Last Tuesday I had the opportunity to go out with my friends Bas Meelker and Bart Heirweg. Bas and Bart both gave a workshop/masterclass at the Zoom Campus and this was for Bart the opportunity to stay for a few days in the North of the Netherlands.
The last time Bart stayed here we weren’t very lucky. The circumstances were pretty bad for landscape photography. It was foggy and rainy, so the three of us had a nice chat about landscape photography which is also very inspiring.
This time we had more luck with the weather. It was a nice sunny evening, but the light was rather harsh. We hoped it would be better during the evening. At 7.30 PM I picked up both guys and we went to North Groningen to take pictures of the rural field over there. We didn’t exactly where we would end up, but we knew there were lots of subjects to capture. We let the light lead our way to the best subject.

During the evening the light got better and finally we ended up at the flower fields near the Waddensea. When the light got better we started to take some pictures in the flower field. We were surrounded by Corn Crakes (Crex crex) who played a nice concert with their typical ”krek, krek” sound.
I always enjoy these kind of evenings of going out together with these guys. They are pleasant guys to have around and we always learn a lot from each other. So there trips are always very valuable for me.
During the evening we took pictures, showed them to each other and shared tips and tricks to make a better composition and make better use of the wonderful light we had.
The evening ended with some pictures as the one above.
Thanks you guys for the inspiring evening. Until next time!
It’s really hard to comment when you are constantly tempted to click away on those beautiful thumbnails.
What I wanted to say…your picture make me wonder why I don’t spend more time in the Netherlands and whether or not you could create such images in Germany as well.
