Via Twitter, forester André Donker showed us a lovely picture of a beautiful ecological rye field with cornflowers in Ansen a small place in Drenthe. I as surprised by the beauty of the cornflowers and decided to go there that evening to take photos of the rye fields in the beautiful evening light.
After checking Google Earth I was sure there were enough opportunities to get back with lovely pictures. The only problem was the clear blue sky. A picture gets much more dramatic with a lovely clouded sky. This didn’t stop me from going out there, because my rule is: “When you doubt, don’t hesitate and go out there”.

When I arrived at the place I knew the light condition were going to be perfect that evening. A small country road between the rye fields made the situation even more beautiful. I decided not to take to much of the sky in my compositions, because this would make the picture less attractive. Taking the picture with the cornflowers prominent in the foreground would create a good depth in the picture and the country road would lead you to the back of the picture.

The floodlight was beautiful and I was able to take pictures until just before sunset using my tripod and my grey graduated filters. This was another lovely evening in the field again. I am glad I went out there.
Thanks André.
Prachtige foto’s Ron. Hier wil ik ook nog wel eens naar toe. Wat een fotogenieke plek!
